Mexican Seafood Cantina Heads to Lincoln Road in August

Italian-inspired Palat Miami debuts in Upper Buena Vista

WHAT: Chef Aldo Lamberti’s first restaurant outside of Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia, Palat Miami features small plates, charcuterie, pasta and tapas. Signature dishes include sea urchin with squid ink pasta, housemade beet ravioli and charred octopus with artichoke and rosemary pesto.

New Brickell location for Jack's Miami

WHAT: Wynwood's home-style comfort-cuisine restaurant Jack's Miami has opened a second location at The Shops at Mary Brickell Village. Designed as an express location primarily offering delivery and takeout, Jack's will have a few outdoor tables. Menu items include chicken parmesan sandwiches, Nonna's homemade meatballs and eggplant rollatini.

New in Upper Buena Vista: vista

WHAT: From Italian chef and restaurateur Roberto Bearzi and wife Fiorella Blanco of Fratelli Milano comes vista, a two-story restaurant bringing Italian cuisine to this emerging neighborhood between the Design District and Little Haiti. vista will focus on fresh ingredients including fish and seafood. The restaurant will offer patrons a wide-ranging, all-day menu, with dishes moderately priced between $9-30. Appetizers include Calamari Fritti with sesame salt, pickles and yuzu foam, and Fisherman Crudo (daily catch) with mango salad, citrus and cilantro oil. Entrées includes Maltagliati Brisket with homemade maltagliati pasta, slow-braised brisket, tomato and parmesan cheese; Gnocchetti New World Pesto with poblano peppers, mint and pistachio; and Swordfish a la plancha with grilled little gem salad, corn, shallots and avocado.

Pi by Half-Moon Empanadas at Wynwood Yard

WHAT: $10 hand pies filled with meat, poultry and veggies, like pato viejo Pi, a twist on ropa vieja made with duck and combined with yellow rice imperial, sofrito aioli and plantain crunch, or Cajun shrimp risotto Pi made with Creole mustard and scallions. Dishes are served with a side of the week’s house-made pickled egg salad.

North Italia to Launch in Brickell

WHAT: Modern Italian restaurant North Italia is bringing made-from-scratch Italian favorites to Mary Brickell Village this fall, serving lunch and dinner seven days a week. Part of the Phoenix-based Fox Restaurant Concepts, North Italia’s signature items include pasta with traditional Bolognese and a variety of pizza. North Italia also features handcrafted cocktails, local beers and red, white and sparkling wines from Italy and other top wine-producing regions.

Salumeria 104 Opening on Miracle Mile

WHAT: Midtown Italian trattoria Salumeria 104 will launch its second location on Coral Gables' newly revamped Miracle Mile at the end of the summer. Part of the Graspa Group, widely recognized for Segafredo, Spris and their catering company Spuntino, Salumeria 104 features imported salumi and a menu inspired by chef and co-owner Angelo Masarin's childhood. "When seeking a home for the new Salumeria 104, we felt the best place to open a restaurant with Italian cuisine was Coral Gables," says Graspa Group founder Graziano Sbroggio. "We are pleased to have found a space on the very iconic Miracle Mile. With its surrounding downtown streets paired with European-style outdoor cafes, we think we can provide residents, employees, business community and tourists with an enjoyable dining experience."

Fort Lauderdale Gets New Etaru

WHAT: Contemporary Japanese Robatayaki restaurant Etaru is opening a second location in early summer 2018 at The Related Group’s new Fort Lauderdale ultra-luxury rental, Icon Las Olas. Brought to the United States by Rainer Becker, co-founder and creator of Zuma and ROKA London, the menu revolves around the central Robata Grill. “We are excited to be opening our second South Florida location of ETARU in downtown Fort Lauderdale,” says group executive chef Hamish Brown. “While ETARU Hallandale Beach embraces the ocean and beach culture of its neighborhood, the Las Olas location will offer the vibrant dynamic of city living and dining.”
