Lychee
Lychee

What are they? Fleshy fruits from trees in the soapberry family.
What they taste like: Sweet, mild and little tart, like an aromatic grape. Don’t eat the seeds, just the juicy flesh.
When you can find it: Lychee, with red, bumpy skin, is in season late May-June, followed by longans in July and Aug.
How to store: Refrigerate lychee and longan to keep fresh. Freeze in airtight bags to store.
Cooking tips: Peel, remove seeds, and add to tropical fruit salad. Frozen fruits make delicious fruit-sicles.
