As we close in on one year of pandemic, one of the hardest-hit sectors are restaurants. Those that have survived so far have done so because their operators are resourceful, able to move quickly to delivery and outdoor dining modes, and creative in their search to make their business work amid unknown challenges.

And events, especially the food and drink events South Florida is known for every winter, have had to adapt, too. One of those is StarChefs, a national restaurant industry magazine that recognizes top culinary talent across the country every year.

StarChefs is continuing their tradition honoring up-and-coming chefs and culinary professionals, but they’ve added a twist this year. They've launched the new Miami Rising Stars Restaurant Week from Mar. 17-31. This campaign, which spotlights each of the 2021 Miami Rising Stars, asks guests to order their signature dishes and drinks, and post their pictures on Instagram, tagging @StarChefs and #StarChefsRisingStars to win a $100 gift card. This will boost restaurant sales and visibility.

This year’s Rising Chefs represent a broader swath of greater Miami, says managing partner Will Blunt. “No longer is the attention and demand solely on Miami Beach’s strip; neighborhoods across the bay and even farther out are burgeoning.” he says.

Among the dishes available on the Restaurant Week Tasting Menu are El Bagel's King Guava: a salt bagel with cream cheese, guava marmalade, fried egg, potato stix; Tran An's Lemongrass Aussie beef stew, red onion, cabbage, herbs, lime, and broken rice; and  Red Rooster Overtown's charred octopus, turnip, foie gras, zhoug.
