Passionfruit

What are they? The edible berries of the passion flower vine, sometimes yellow, purple or golden.
What they taste like: Fruity, fragrant and tart, with crunchy seeds inside that you eat.
When you can find it: South Florida markets carry passion fruit in summer months. Ripe fruits are wrinkly.
How to store: Cut ripe fruit in half and scoop out the pulp and seeds. Strain and freeze.
Cooking tips: Mix strained juice into orange juice for a tropical punch. Add to fruit salad. Stir into low-fat plain yogurt.
