South Florida's Black-owned restaurants are in the spotlight this week as part of Black Restaurant Week. Founded in 2016 by Warren Luckett, Falayn Ferrell and Derek Robinson, the promotion embraces the flavors of African-American, African and Caribbean cuisine nationwide. The program highlights a range of culinary businesses, including catering services, food trucks and culinary products, aimed at stimulating the local economy and giving full access to the Black culinary industry. Feed the Soul Foundation’s is mission to dismantle food injustice by working with marginalized entrepreneurs to ensure that local neighborhood restaurants obtain financial assistance, educational training, and equitable opportunities.
