Every January 1st, Haitians celebrate their independence with Soupe Joumou, a pumpkin soup, music and festivities. Check out these events throughout South Florida.

WHAT: Enjoy a tasty bowl of the Haitian traditional soup joumou, which is a symbol of freedom in the Haitian culture.

Fourth Annual Soup and Champagne All-White Affair, North Miami Beach

WHAT: Haitian Independence Celebration showcases Haiti's food, music, art and culture with live performances by kompa music's acclaimed Enposib, Kai, Rara Lakay and a host of popular DJs. There will also be an art unveiling with complimentary Soupe Joumou and Champagne from 7pm-9pm.
