Memoirs, Memoirs, Memoirs at Miami Book Fair 2019
Expect lots of looking back, and not so many recipes, in the culinary offerings at this year’s Miami Book Fair Nov. 17-24. Here are some of the highlights:
▪ Notes from a Young Black Chef: A Memoir by Kwame Onwuachi with Joshua David Stein, from the Long Island-born chef who was raised in New York City, Nigeria and Louisiana.
• The Book of Eating: A Memoir by Adam Platt, tales from the globe-trotting food critic’s life lived meal-to-meal.
• Savage Feast: Three Generations, Two Continents, and a Dinner Table (a Memoir with Recipes) by Boris Fishman, a story of family, immigrants, love and an epic meal.
• Jimmy Neurosis: A Memoir by James Oseland, editor of Saveur, on being young and gay during the 1970s punk movement in America.
• Hotbox: Inside Catering, the Food World's Riskiest Business by Matt Lee and Ted Lee, a peek into the drama in the catering business.
• From Scratch: 10 Meals, 175 Recipes, and Dozens of Techniques You Will Use Over and Over by Michael Ruhlman, a look at 10 favorite meals, including roast chicken, the perfect omelet and paella, with multiple alternate pathways.
