New Chef’s Table on the Bay a Prelude to Deering Seafood Festival
Kicking off this year’s 16th Deering Seafood Festival: Chef’s Table on the Bay, a three-course dinner prepared by chefs Cindy and Ashley Hutson of Ortanique, served under the stars in the center of the historic courtyard of the Deering Estate.
The dining experience, on Mar. 27, features a champagne reception followed by a cooking demo and seafood dinner. Michael Thaler of Breakthru Beverage will talk about wine pairings and lead a lesson on making a specialty bourbon cocktail.
Tickets for Chef's Table on the Bay are $175 per person, or $150 for members of the Deering Estate Foundation. For tickets, call 305-235-1668, ext. 272. Proceeds from the event, limited to 150 people, benefit the Deering Estate Foundation, to raise awareness and support programming for community, conservation and culture. Chef's Table on the Bay is sponsored by Breakthru Beverage, Golden Rule Seafood, Martinis Fine Wine & Spirits and Ortanique.
Later that weekend, the Deering Seafood Festival on Sunday, Mar. 29, is a nonstop celebration featuring fresh Florida fish and seafood, chef demos, live entertainment and activities for the kids.
Chef Demos
Celebrated chefs from South Florida restaurants, plus the winner of the Johnson & Wales Student Culinary Competition, will show off their skills during the day as they present their favorite seafood recipes. Each attendee will receive a copy of the recipe and a free entry for a raffle.
