Our fave springtime cultural pals have concocted a series of inventive schemes to expose everyone in Miami-Dade County to a poem during the month of April. Here are some highlights with an edible theme:

Poetry in Pajamas

It's a pajama party with Sam and Simon for #PoetryinPajamas at Miami Beach Botanical Garden! Wear your PJs and bring the family for poems, bedtime treats from Courtney's Cookies and Exquisito Chocolates + music from Afrobeta + lots more O, Miami Poetry Festival fun. Free with RSVP.

Look at your dollars! Short poems, stamped onto dollar bills, circulate throughout the city as the bills themselves pass from hand to hand and neighborhood to neighborhood. Each poem highlights the characteristics and cultures of Miami neighborhoods and features a hashtag encouraging recipients to share their experiences on social media. To kick off the festival, the neighborhood-specific poetry money will be available in Miami Beach, Little Havana, Overtown, Little Haiti, Miami Gardens, Homestead, MIMO, Hialeah, Westchester, South Miami, Coconut Grove and Wynwood.

Syrian Supper Club

Taste of Syria Supper Club is a dinner featuring poetry reading by some of the children of resettled Syrian families in South Florida. The Syrian refugee women, who are making the dinner, are hosting this as a way of adjusting to life in South Florida. Space is limited for this event, which takes place April 20 at Coral Gables Congregational Church ($50).

Farm-to-Table Poetry at the Arsht

Poetry on the Menu at Arsht Market Mondays Each Monday night in April focuses on a different poet during the farm-to-table dinners:
• Monday, April 23: Gertrude Stein: Tender Buttons
• Monday, April 30: Kevin Young: The Hungry Ear

Rice Culture Dinner

Sangam Rice Dinner is the first in a series of experiential plant-based meals celebrating the presence of diverse rice culture in Miami, paired with ancient Indian Sangam poetry. Each guest receives an original Sangam Rice zine by Annam, the weekly tiffin delivery service. Tickets are $85 for the April 21 event at the Miami Shores Community Church.
