Our 2018 covers by local artists won first place for Magazine Cover Design at the annual Sunshine State Awards ceremony held in Fort Lauderdale. These prestigious awards from the Florida chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists recognize outstanding work by members of all media: newspapers, magazines, television, radio and digital.
Thanks to local artists Brian Reedy, Serge Toussaint and Sara Averbook Kaplan for their memorable covers in 2018, each vibrantly representing the flavors of South Florida:
“Working with a different local artist for each issue to illustrate our stories about local foods and farms in 2018 resulted in such fun covers that we decided to continue again in 2019,” says publisher Katie Sullivan. “We’re always so delighted when we see what they come up with.”
