Banana

What are they? One of the world’s most popular fruits.
What they taste like: Sweet, creamy, sometimes apple-y, local bananas come in different types, shapes and colors.
When you can find them: Year-round in South Florida.
How to store: Keep on your counter until ripe. (They turn dark in the fridge.) If your bananas are getting ripe before you can eat them all, break into pieces and freeze in zip-top bags. If they’re too mushy to eat, freeze and use to make banana bread.
Cooking tips: Naturally sweet ripe bananas make great smoothies. Slice ripe bananas into orange juice for a quick breakfast. Blend frozen bananas in a food processor until smooth and scoop into a bowl for one-ingredient ice cream!
