Jackson Hall Closes
Miami’s first wellness-based food hall, Jackson Hall, announced it closed its doors today, nearly six months after opening in the Miami Health District.
“As a grassroots small business competing with heavily subsidized food offerings in the area, we learned through experience that our business model is not viable given the context and timing,” said partners Della Heiman and Ken Lyon in a social media post. “While this is a deeply disappointing day, we remain fully committed to serving the greater Miami community through transformative programming, culinary, cultural and wellness experiences.”
Located on the second floor of the Civica Center in the Jackson Medical District, the food hall opened with six concepts, including the second locations of Della Bowls and Charcoal, both at Wynwood Yard; a Middle Eastern concept; a deli; a Hawaiian poke bowl station; and Radiate Apothecary + Bar. They hosted a full slate of wellness-related events – Mindfulness pop-ups, Refresh and Restore Happy Hours; and a Sustainable Supperclub.
Jackson Hall attracted attention for its many health-conscious food options – lots of vegan and gluten-free choices, no deep frying, high-fructose corn syrup or synthetic colorings and preservatives.
Heiman and Lyon say they plan to refocus on the upcoming season at The Wynwood Yard, which will close next spring to make way for a new development; and North Beach Yard, a new project in the works.
