Mango Gang Reunites at Michael’s Genuine June 30

Chefs Allen Susser, Michael Schwartz, Cindy Hutson and Norman Van Aken

Some of South Florida’s Mango Gang – chefs Norman Van Aken, Allen Susser and Cindy Hutson – are joining chef Michael Schwartz for a tribute dinner at Michael’s Genuine on June 30, the height of mango season. The chefs are pioneers in elevating the Miami dining scene using Floribbean ingredients and classic techniques.

“This dinner is all about acknowledging their work and getting the ‘gang’ back to cook together, while honoring their work, says Schwartz.

The celebratory dinner kicks off with a mango lassi-inspired cocktail and canapé reception featuring starters like cheese on brioche with jamon serrano and yuzu-mango marmalade, and Caicos Island conch ceviche with fresh coconut creme and ginger mousse. The five-course seated dinner includes jerk-seared cobia with West Indian green mango chutney and malanga mash and Caribbean spice roasted short rib with mango ratatouille and yellow corn grits.

The dinner is $175 per person and there’s a wine and cocktail pairing curated by beverage director Amanda Fraga for an additional $75 per guest. Book reservations at Open Table or visit Michael’s Genuine.
