What are they? Colorful root vegetables that can be round, cylindrical or long, like carrots. They can be white, pink, red, purple, yellow, and even black. Watermelon radishes are pink on the inside and green on the outside.
What they taste like: Flavor ranges from sharp and pungent to mild, and juicy.
When you can find it: Radishes grow in South Florida in the winter and spring.
How to use and store: Refrigerate.
Cooking tips: Wash and trim and eat raw with a little salt. Slice or quarter and add to salads and sandwiches. Saute radishes in a little vegetable oil and season with salt, pepper and fresh herbs.
