What's new in South Florida? Coral Gables is hot, hot hot: Sra. Martinez in Coral Gables only a few weeks away, Birdie Bistro on the Granada Golf Course, Mai Sushi Tapas and Kojin 2.0 for Japanese-flavored menus, and a Caracas Bakery location on Miracle Mile. Elsewhere: Torno Subito, Massimo Bottura's rooftop restaurant in downtown Miami. Paya from Niven Patel and Mohamed “Mo” Alkassar. Recoveco, an intriguing new spot in South Miami.

Not so fast! Osteria Del Teatro, favorite Italian restaurant that moved from South Beach to North Bay Village, announced it was closing after 37 years. But customers rallied to their rescue and they are staying open.
