Smorgasburg Now Open in Wynwood
Wynwood's new open-air food market is now open. Smorgasburg, open in New York and Los Angeles with global pop-ups, in the space next to the Wynwood Walls, features local food vendors and some retail. Look for South Florida-based food artisans Sando Miami (Japanese-inspired sandos), Dale Street Food from Chug's Diner executive chef Monika, Lucky You plant-based burgers, Benh Mi from chef Benjamin Murray, Fusion Fuego Dominican, Ms. Cheezious, King Patty’s, Succulent Street Food and more.
"We are bringing Smorgasburg to Miami to provide the right spotlight and conditions for these vendors to flourish and grow and to build a market that represents the talent and diversity of the South Florida food scene," says Gaston Becherano Cohen, a former Miamian involved in the project. "At its core, Smorgasburg allows vendors to launch their own successful food concept without having to take the risk and undergo the headaches associated with opening up a brick and mortar.” Raised in Miami, Becherano Cohen, owner of Omotenashi Group, a collection of hospitality-driven enterprises that includes the Aventura Gardens Market, says he believes the time is ripe for this food market. The market will have 60 food vendors, a central area with picnic tables and a bar area. They're also looking for local culinary talent to apply for space. Smorgasburg Miami is open on Saturdays from 11am to 6pm. Visitors can enter on NW 2nd Ave. or 26th St.
