Earn your daily bread in the month of October.
Wynwood baker Zak the Baker and the O, Miami Poetry Festival have again teamed up for Poems for Bread. Participating patrons will receive one loaf of bread in exchange for a handwritten haiku on the theme of Miami food, seeking poetic answers to questions like: What is Miami food to you? What are your earliest food memories here? What did your family cook when guests came over? Which seasonal fruits did you look forward to? Which restaurant did you go to when celebrating?
Poems must be written at Zak the Baker on custom O, Miami prompt cards and submitted during hours of operation,: Sun.-Fri. 7am to 5pm. You can submit one entry per day for any loaf of bread except braided challah. On Nov. 14, two winners will be announced: one grand prize winner will receive free bread for a year, and one runner-up will receive a native fruit tree.
O, Miami is celebrating its 15th birthday in April, and they’re taking project proposals at omiami.org.
