As some of you know, Hani Khouri – whose artisan goat cheese and Mediterranean treats have been beloved by many in South Florida – suffered a stroke in late September and remains hospitalized. He has also been the caregiver for his wife, Mary Lee, who has faced her own serious health issues.

Hani's daughter, Marguerite, reports he had ischemic stroke to the brain stem likely due to an arrhythmia of the heart, causing a blood clot to be sent up to his brain. He's been in the ICU for over two weeks now with only a day-to-day prognosis, and is still considered critically stable.

The family has launched a fund to help with expenses here.

For those who can't help monetarily, Marguerite says there are other needs: "A home-cooked meal, running an errand with our mom because she cannot drive, keeping her company, being a listening ear, spending time at the hospital with Hani (which is very important for his recovery)."

The family remains hopeful for his recovery. "We're seeing small steps every day. Those of you who know our dad know he's very strong."
