From Oct. 10-14, Broward County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services are celebrating National School Lunch Week. This year’s theme, “Peace, Love & School Lunch” includes student activities and education that promote the importance of healthy eating.
BCPS National School Lunch Week initiatives include:
    •     Student poster contest based on the “Peace, Love & School Lunch” theme.
    •     Elementary and Middle School Coloring Contest of a template lunch poster.
    •     High School Instagram Contest. Students can post a selfie on Instagram enjoying their lunch with a groovy theme and tag @BCPSFNS.
    •    Official proclamation declaring National School Lunch Week by the School Board of Broward County.

National School Lunch Week emphasizes healthy foods offered daily at Broward County Public Schools. School lunches are healthier than ever, with more fruits and vegetables, more whole grains, and less fat and sodium. Cafeterias have also expanded their vegan and vegetarian options beyond the everyday salad.

The federally funded program, which has been serving the nation's children for over 75 years, provides nutritionally balanced, healthy meals to students every day. For more information about NSLW, visit www.schoolnutrition.org.
