Using preserves in cocktails is a great way to make use of out-of-season fruits.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Yellowstone Select
  • ½ oz. lime juice
  • 1 bar spoon of cherry preserves
  • Ginger ale

Instructions

  • Combine Yellowstone Select, lime juice, and a bar spoon of cherry preserves to a mixing glass. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Strain over fresh ice in a Collins glass and top with ginger ale. Garnish with maraschino cherries.

Notes

Recipe creator bartender Matt Longueville of STL Barkeep says he really like to use preserved fruits in cocktails. "It’s the most effective way to use fruits that aren’t in season and you also can really control the sweetness. Start with a small amount of preserves and add until you achieve the desired level of sweetness. Remember, you can always add more to the cocktail, but once it's mixed in you cannot take it out."
