87th Annual Royal Poinciana Fiesta June 8-16
Every June, the glorious Royal Poinciana (Delonix regia) is celebrated with a series of events as part of Miami’s longest-running festival. Many of these are free. Visit Royal Poinciana Festival for details and tickets.
Free Walking Tour
Sat., June 8 – 10am
Simpson Park and South Miami Avenue
Presented by Dade Heritage Trust, this tour includes Royal Poinciana tree-lined South Miami Avenue and this natural hammock. Start at DHT at 190 SE 12 Terrace.
Royal Poinciana Symposium
Sat., June 8 – 2pm
Pinecrest Library, 5835 SW 111th Street
In partnership with the Miami Pioneers and Natives of Dade. this symposium features Steve Pearson, former director of the Gifford Arboretum and past president of the Tropical Flowering Tree Society, on the history of the Royal Poinciana, its origins in S. Florida and its use by early settlers.
Poinciana Fiesta Celebration Party and Reception
Sun., June 9 – 6-9pm
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Rd.
Refreshments will be served including Royal Poinciana Punch. At 7:30pm, presentations will take place for the 2024 Royal Poinciana Fiesta Queen and Court scholarship recipients and the Larry Schokman Book Award. Poinciana cake will be served at the end of the presentations. There will be a special display of the late Key West artist Ray Rolston’s vibrant works featuring Royal Poincianas. This event is free and open to the public, but guests are requested to bring a dish to share or make a donation. Park and enter at the Fairchild South Entrance on Old Cutler Road.
Painting Royal Poinciana Trees

Join in for a fun experience painting Royal Poinciana Trees at this unique event, no previous art experience necessary. All supplies are included. Take home a wonderful DIY painting! This event is $45 per person.
2024 Free Poinciana Opa-Locka Heritage Trail Tree Planting

490 Ali Baba Ave.
The Tropical Flowering Tree Society, along with the Opa-locka Preservation Association, and TREEmendous Miami, will host a tree planting in the historic city of Opa-locka as part of the 2024 Royal Poinciana Fiesta. Opa-locka is Miami-Dade’s only municipality of a unique Moorish Revival design.
2024 Poinciana Father’s Day Bike Tour

2024 Poinciana Trolley Tours

The Royal Poincianas Trolley Tour highlights the best trees and blossoms of the 2024 season, narrated by two poinciana experts and past presidents of the Tropical Flowering Tree Society. Tickets $25 pp. Seating is limited to two trolleys. Buy tickets in advance: www.royalp.org in advance.
