Two of South Florida’s favorite spring events – Calle Ocho and Carnaval Miami, and the Dade County Youth Fair – won’t take place this season because of the ongoing pandemic. Last year, only Carnaval on the Mile, the street festival on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, was one of the last public events before everything shut down.

“It is disappointing that this will be the second year in a row without a Calle Ocho Music Festival, but public health is the priority,” says Jorge Fernandez, president of Kiwanis Club of Little Havana. “We look forward to dancing in the street together again in 2022.”

Despite the pandemic, the organization has stayed active helping the community, distributing more than 30,000 meals in Little Havana, providing more than 40 college scholarships, assisted more than 7,000 South Florida students with school supplies, and provided more than 2,000 toys to underprivileged children during the holidays.

Meanwhile, the Youth Fair has decided to reschedule its spring event to Nov. 18-Dec. 5 “after careful consideration and with the best interests of our guests, vendors, volunteers, performers and staff in mind,” they announced on social media.

Guests who purchased tickets to last year’s Youth Fair can take advantage of their Ticket Conversion Policy or get a refund here.
