The Chocolate Lab at Exquisito Chocolates
It's no secret that lots of people love chocolate. But they also love learning how it's made.
That's why Exquisito Chocolates, Little Havana's chocolate factory, is now offering “The Chocolate Lab,” a program that offers expertly curated tours, events and classes centered around the science and art of chocolate starting at only $5.
"As a member of the growing bean-to-bar movement, we know the importance of understanding the origin of the food we eat," says founder Carolina Quijano. "Since opening a little over a year ago, we’ve opened our factory doors to schools and corporations that wanted to learn more about the source and production of chocolate."
To remain accessible across folks in the city, they’re offering the “Factory Tour & Tasting” at only $5, a hands-on hour-long course that takes people into their production space to show how they turn cacao beans sourced from all over the world into chocolate.
Other classes offer participants the chance to indulge in fruit and chocolate pairings, bon bon making, bar making, and chats on how they source from various farms.
"Taste-testing our chocolate confections is on the menu for all the courses, of course," says Quijano. "We’re hoping to contribute to the growing Miami craft food scene with this educational program at accessible price points. In addition, we enjoy offering a fun activity that is packed with educational components that sometimes are missing from the normal things to do around town."
There are 6+ varied tours & classes (full list here) as part of The Chocolate Lab running from Monday thru Sunday, typically during the afternoons/evenings. Tickets range from $5-$40 per person and must be reserved in advance via Eventbrite. All of The Chocolate Lab experiences can be booked for private events.
