Tour the Miami Beach Botanical Garden with a companion: a coloring book that helps you discover what’s on the 13 stops of the garden tour.
“The featured character is Frankie the flamingo who guides you through some favorite spots in the garden,” says artist Sara Averbook Kaplan, a visual artist who also created our Fall 2019 Bananas cover art. “It’s suitable for adults and children with a fun sense of humor and love of nature.” The coloring book will be available for about $10 at the gift shop and online. The release date corresponds to “Implanted,’ a collection of paintings Kaplan is showing in the Butterfly Room Oct. 17-Nov. 24.

Not only does the book illustrate many of the folks who work at the garden, it’s also points out many of the botanical features in rhyme. Kaplan’s sons, Sam and Simon, present Poetry in Pajamas at the garden as part of the annual O, Miami Poetry Festival.
While her exhibition ends Nov. 24, the coloring book will remain on sale in the gift shop – a thoughtful gift that celebrates local treasures!
