Coral Gables Restaurant Cookbook Debuts

A Taste of Coral Gables
A Taste of Coral Gables

Soon you can make Ortanique’s Jerk Chicken Penne Pasta or Sushi Maki’s Spicy Tuna Salad at home – along with other recipes from Coral Gables restaurants and cafes. Just pick up the new A Taste of Coral Gables, A Culinary Tour and Recipes from the City Beautiful, showcasing more than 70 restaurants and cafes, their stories and their recipes.

“We wanted to say thank-you to our restaurant partners and celebrate the spectacular culinary offerings in our community,” says mayor Raúl Valdés-Fauli.

Published by Mango Publishing Group, A Taste of Coral Gables covers longtime Gables restaurants like Palme d’Or at the Biltmore (Madeleines) and John Martin’s Irish Pub (Shepherd’s Pie) and newcomers like Lan Ramen-Ya (Yakisoba) and Madruga Bakery (Dark Chocolate Rye Brownies). Photography and stories about city projects like Umbrella Sky and Giralda Plaza make this book a useful keepsake.

A Taste of Coral Gables retails for $39.99 and is available at Books & Books in Coral Gables and online.

To celebrate the launch of the cookbook, the community is invited to Books and Books Coral Gables Sept. 17 from 5:30-8pm, along with its partners at the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Business Improvement District of Coral Gables and the Coral Gables Community Foundation. More information here.
