Delicious O, Miami Poetry Festival
Look! A poem! And another one! Our favorite cultural event, the O, Miami Poetry Festival, is underway all April. Here are some culinary highlights:
AJIACO
Named for a Colombian and Cuban soup of vegetables, roots and meats, this zine of food poetry is presented as a series of loose-bound recipe cards, containing poems and an original recipe created by local designer Amanda Finuccio. The zine will be sold for $1 out of Zine Machines – two sticker vending machines specially repurposed by Books Are Nice.
Poetic Consumption: A Date Night with Gertrude Stein
Legendary American writer Gertrude Stein’s Tender Buttons serves as the framework for a three-course poetic meal April 24 by chef Evan Hanczor from Brooklyn’s Egg at Little Haiti’s Little Farm House. The five-course dinner includes drinks from Concrete Beach Brewery. $75 per person. Tickets here.
Ode to Your ZIP Code
We’re teaming up with O, Miami, WLRN and The Kampong again this year April 26 to celebrate the winning entries in the 2016 Ode to Your ZIP Code poetry contest. Thirty winners will have an opportunity to read their poems. Enter here through April 21. The event will include food and drink sorted by ZIP code. Reserve your spot here. Space is limited!
Poetry Paella Night
Presented in partnership with the Association for Asian American Studies, this annual event takes place at The Betsy April 28. Email for more information. And in honor of National Poetry Month, BLT Steak Miami at The Betsy is serving up their literary drink, the Mot Juste, created by David Weiss, general manager of BLT Steak Miami.
