For the Love of Art Auction

Students display creations at For the Love of Art

Donated fabric scraps, surplus materials and glass tiles turn into art in the hands of Miami-Dade public school students and teachers. The Education Fund For the Love of Art Charity Auction and Honoree Celebration, presented by Ocean Bank, showcases art pieces at this auction and community celebration at Jungle Island Mon., May 18.

Every piece up for bid was made by a student or teacher using donated supplies. This year features two categories: Art of Found Objects, turning discarded surplus into one-of-a-kind works, and Beyond the Page, a brand-new paper art category, made possible with support from Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation, which is also sponsoring three hands-on art activations: Tote-ally Creative, a live screen printing station; Fold-tastic, an origami station; and Red, White and Hue, an interactive color wall.

The evening includes live music, an open bar, an epicurean feast, luxury items, and the Public School Alumni Achievement Awards. All proceeds benefit arts education and The Education Fund Ocean Bank Center for Educational Materials. Tickets are on sale here.
