Local relief efforts are underway for communities in need following Hurricane Helene and Milton. These organizations can use your donations, money and time.

National Resources

FEMA

Florida Agriculture and Aquaculture Producers Natural Disaster Recovery Loan Program

Florida farmers, ranchers, and growers impacted by Hurricanes Milton, Helene and Debby can now apply for interest-free loans through the Agriculture and Aquaculture Producers Natural Disaster Recovery Loan Program through FDACS. Loans can be used by eligible agriculture and aquaculture producers to restore, repair, or replace essential physical property, or to remove vegetative debris.

World Central Kitchen

This global food relief organization is on the ground getting food to those in need. WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. Robert Is Here, Florida City

Robert Is Here, the popular fruit stand, is collecting diapers, baby wipes, ready-to-feed baby formula, women's products, non-perishable canned goods like beans, chicken and tuna to go to their farming friends in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Drop them off at Robert is Here over the weekend or Accursio Farms at 1225 NW 2nd St  on Tues., Oct. 8, when the bins of supplies will be loaded onto a semi.

The Miami Foundation has compiled a list of relief agencies working to help communities affected by Hurricane Helene here.

Bring diapers, hygiene kits, sanitary iteams, non-perishable goods

Pompano Beach Brewing

This brewery is collecting canned or nonperishable food items, sports drinks, personal care items, disposable baby diapers, baby food and formula, manual can openers, plasticware, paper products, disposable adult diapers, cleaning supplies, dust masks, work gloves, heavy-duty kitchen gloves, flashlights and fresh batteries and hand tools. These will be delivered to hardest-hit areas. They are donating $1 for every piny and $2 for every 4-pack of their Uncle Bill IPA. This drive starts today and lasts through Fri., Oct. 11. Pompano Beach Brewing

Effe Cafe, Cooper City

Effe Cafe in Cooper City is partnering wuth Essential Renovations to collect donations for Hurricane Helene victims, loading up trailers and trucks to deliver to the Panhandle and North Carolina. Drop off nonperishables, water, pet supplies or other useful goods at their cafe at 10295 Stirling Road.

Asheville, North Carolina

Hard-hit Asheville and communities in western North Carolina are reeling after the storm. These local relief agencies are onthe scene:
MANNA Food Bank
Diaper Bank of North Carolina
Order coffee this week from Summit Coffee – all proceeds support their baristas in their River Arts District location, which was destroyed in the hurricane.
Donate to Hearts with Hands, a local organization gathering supplies to help those in need.

Greater Miami Jewish Federation

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation has established an Emergency Relief Fund to assist individuals impacted by the catastrophic hurricane. As always, Federation will absorb all administrative costs so that 100 percent of funds donated to Hurricane Helene relief will provide critically needed aid to both the Jewish and non-Jewish communities affected by this devastating storm.

In addition to canned/nonperishable foods with a 1+-year expiration date, here’s what else they need:

•    tarps and tents
•    sleeping bags
•    work gloves
•    solar-powered lights
•    industrial sponges
•    first aid kits
•    hygiene kits (hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, washcloths, deodorant)
•    generators*
•    cots
•    sheets and blankets
*Generators can only be accepted at the Global Empowerment Mission HQ.
