Juneteenth Party at Red Rooster Overtown
Celebrate Juneteenth and the debut of The Creamery at Red Rooster Overtown, part of chef Marcus Samuelsson’s restaurant that’s been feeding those in need over the past few weeks. Sponsored by La Fete du Rose, the June 20th celebration starts at noon in the backyard, which will be outfitted with picnic tables placed six feet apart.
The Creamery officially opens Fri., June 19th, for takeout and delivery of ice cream and sundaes and chicken dishes. Eight different ice cream flavors on the menu include:
• Marcus' Cornbread (Honey Butter Caramel, Blackberry Jam)
• Ode to Havana (Cream Cheese Ice Cream, Guava Jam, Maria Biscuits)
• 7th Inning Stretch (Berber Caramel Corn, Caramel, Potato Chips)
Other dishes from the "Bird Menu" and sides from the "Side Chicks” section include CK's Chicken Waffles (Crispy Yard Bird, Malted Waffle, Pickled Cabbage); Chips and Chicks (Spicy Dorowat Chicken Chili, Cheddar Cheese Sauce, Plantain Chips); Yep! Mac and Cheese (White Cheddar, Black Pepper, Scallions); and Grains and Greens (Local Greens, Sour Orange, Green Goddess, Cauliflower, Farro).
Saturday’s Juneteenth celebration runs from noon-5pm in the backyard with a DJ, rosé and bites. The backyard also features their new box farm from Hammock Greens.
