Lakou, the Haitian Creole word meaning a small village built around a shared yard, is now open in the heart of Little Haiti. The space features Haitian-inspired artwork, domino tables, lounge seating and food and drink.
Located on the same block as the Little Haiti Cultural Center, Lakou has previously partnered with chefs Nadege Fleurimond of BunNan and Davidson Destinoble, with additional culinary collaborations on the way to showcase Haitian and Caribbean-inspired dishes. Their in-house bar program, curated by Miami-born mixologist Joseph Jebelean, offers island-inspired cocktails complemented by a selection of wine, beer and soft drinks. “Our cocktail program is designed to tell a story in every sip, blending Haitian tradition with Miami’s energy, breaking down barriers and inviting guests to experience something authentic, fun and unforgettable,” he says.

Lakou will feature happy hours, rotating DJs, live music and cultural events, plus yoga, wellness experiences and community-centered art activations.
“With Lakou, we set out to bring that to the forefront by showcasing Haitian-inspired food and music, partnering with Haitian-owned businesses and artists and creating an inviting space that breaks down stereotypes while celebrating the richness of the culture,” says Lakou owner Aaron Goldstein.
Lakou is located at 207 NE 59 St. Hours are Friday and Saturday 5pm-midnight and Sun. 10am-noon, 5pm-midnight. Visit www.Lakou.Miami or follow @Lakou.Miami.
