The Ultimate Mango Experience: Mango Mania at Fruit and Spice Park

Mango Mania at Fruit and Spice Park
Mango Mania at Fruit and Spice Park

This is a good mango year – so it’s time to celebrate! And one of the best ways for true mango aficionados to explore the depths and breadths of this beloved tropical fruit is at Mango Mania, the annual event from the Tropical Fruit & Vegetable Society of the Redland and Fruit & Spice Park.

The enperience starts with a delightful morning learning more about mangos on Saturday, June 24, 9 AM, at the Miami-Dade County Extension office at 18710 SW 288th Street in Homestead. This year’s instructor is Alex Salazar, who has been studying mangos since childhood and is owner of Tropical Acres Farms, where he grows over 300 varieties of mangos. His lecture title is “Modern Florida Mango Culture.”

Then, participants will travel to Fruit and Spice Park for a sampling of variety of locally grown mangos.

Registration is $60 online or $75 at the door (if space is available) and includes a light breakfast with mangos and a bag to take home some favorites. The bag holds 12-14 small mangos like Pickering or 8-10 medium size mangos like Glenn. Buy tickets here.
