James Beard award-winning chef and culinary historian Michael Twitty, author of Kosher Soul, The Cooking Gene and his newest release, The American South, will lead a conversation exploring the connections between food, culture, identity and history Thur., May 7 at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. Before the talk, local food trucks will be on hand along with a hands-on Spice Lab, where participants can make their own spice blend. The talk will be followed by a discussion and Q&A moderated by Sage Cassell-Rosenberg, Jews of Color Program Senior Manager at Keshet.
This event is part of the second year of programming by The Overlap at the the David Posnack Jewish Community Center in Fort Lauderdale. Designed to bring people together across lines of culture, faith and identity, The Overlap uses the arts, open dialogue, shared learning and interfaith experiences to bridge communities and build empathy for one another.
