It's the season to sign up for CSAs – Community Supported Agriculture. Basically, you agree to pay upfront for produce grown on local farms. When it's time to harvest, you'll get weekly boxes filled with fresh fruits and vegetables at the height of their prime throughout the season.

Each CSA is different. Some offer certified organic produce, while others may feature vegetables grown using organic practices or conventional produce. Many offer add-ons, like local honey, eggs, preserved fruits and other farm products. Some let you customize your boxes to a degree (your family can't stand kale, for example). But one of the best benefits is getting produce you may not be familiar with, challenging you to try new fruits and vegetables and use new recipes.

The following farms and companies offer CSAs in South Florida. Please note that smaller CSAs fill up quickly, so don't delay.
