New Whole Foods Market Dadeland, Gastropub Debuts
The bright, new, 47,000-sq-ft Whole Foods Market Dadeland opens Jan. 10, bringing customers not just grocery store staples, but also El Bocadillo, a Latin/Caribbean gastropub with craft beer and wine; a full-service Allegro coffee bar; cold-pressed juice on tap; and a huge selection of grab-and-go prepared foods.
And if their employees – "team members" in Whole Foods Markets parlance – look familiar, it's because they came from the smaller Whole Foods Pinecrest about a mile away. "We are so excited to bring this community a beautiful new grocery store that offers them a true destination for celebrating food," says team leader Adrienne Hutchings. "We've proudly served Pinecrest for 10 years and this store will allow us to continue that tradition with even more bells and whistles."
One of the new features is El Bocadillo, a restaurant-within-the-grocery with a bar and seating. Local craft beers include those made by Wynwood Brewing, Biscayne Bay Brewing and Concrete Beach. On the menu are Latin- and Caribbean-inspired dishes like a crispy yuca frita, local yellowtail snapper in banana leaf, lechon el bocadillo, a Cuban sandwich and even a chorizo frita. Their ham or chicken croquetas come under the guidance of Versailles. Personal pizzas – with versions like bistec chimichurri and pizza Cuba frita, with pork, plantains and potato sticks – feature crust made with imported Italian flour.
El Bocadillo is also open for breakfast from 8am-11am, serving avocado toast with a poached organic egg and pan tostado, among other dishes. And yes, you can get a cortadito too – Allegro Coffee is available from their bar.
Whole Foods Market Dadeland is located at 7930 SW 104 St., next to the Target. The old Pinecrest location will become a Milam's Market later in 2018.
